Write Your Own Earth Treaty

Writing an Earth Treaty is a wonderful experience. Here is how you do it:

  1. Think of a special place in nature that you really love. It might be the ocean or a forest or a mountain. Think of the beauty and the peace of this place. Imagine how it feels to be there, the smell of the air, the sound of the leaves rustling in the trees, the roar of the waves...

  2. Imagine what would happen if this place no longer existed...if we did not take good care of the earth and your special spot was gone. Imagine how you would feel if you no longer had your ocean, your forest, your mountain...

  3. Now, think about your relationship with Mother Earth. Have you been taking good care of her? What are some of the things you know you could be doing? Thoughts and ideas will come to the surface, because these are the things that deep down you want to do.

  4. Now, sit down and write a letter to Mother Earth. It can be a promise, a poem, a story, an idea, a feeling, a drawing... Begin your letter with "Dear Mother Earth," and then just let your ideas and feelings flow.

  5. You can write your letter on the form below and send it directly to us by clicking on the "Send" button, or you can write it on your own computer and email it to us at info@kids4earth.org. Your Earth Treaty will help us write the Children's Environmental Constitution.
